Annual Harvest Party, Round Barn Winery Aug. 28-29th

Go stomp some grapes!
The Round Barn Winery will have its annual Harvest Party this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday at the Baroda, Mich. location. The event will last from 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. EST each day. Help celebrate the annual grape harvest with live music, wine, microbrews, DiVine vodka, food, and grape stomping.

Saturday Line-Up:
Half-Pint Jones - 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Lady Sunshine & the X Band - 4-6 p.m.

Sunday Line-Up:
Midwest Hype - 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Lubriphonic - 4-6 p.m.

Entry fees are $10, but only $5 if a Round Barn glass is presented when purchasing tickets.

Art Beat 2010 Aug. 28th, South Bend


This Saturday, August 28th, Art Beat 2010 will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the downtown area of South Bend, Ind.

Art Beat is a free art event along the streets and sidewalks of downtown South Bend featuring the work of local visual, performing, and culinary artists. The event showcases South Bend and the surrounding community's artists. 

Art Beat Amped on the Island will be located on the Century Center’s newly renovated Island, located on the river’s edge at 120 S. St. Joseph Street, directly across from the College Football Hall of Fame. Art Beat Amped on the Island will feature 14 local and regional music groups performing original pieces that represent a wide variety of music; country, rock, blues, alternative and industrial noise. Bands will perform from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. 

Other activities to take place on the island sponsored by WSBT-TV will include, a Sketch the Sky coloring area for kids and a food court on the island with all proceeds benefiting the United Way of St. Joseph County.

Beerfest Aug. 27th


Cool down a hot, August night with a few glasses at this year's Beerfest that will take place this Friday the 27th. The event will take place at White Hawk Country Club in Crown Point, Ind.

Get ready to drink locally brewed hometown beers from Crown Brewing starting at 7 p.m. at the White Hawk Tent across from the Club House at 1001 White Hawk Drive. Live music from the AcoustiCats will begin at 7:30 p.m. All beers from this local Brewmaster, as well as others, are only $1!

Smooth Jazz at South Shore Concert Aug. 28th


Smooth Jazz at South Shore will take place on August 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Washington Park in Michigan City, Ind. This Midwest music festival was created to expose the residents of Michigan City, La Porte County and the surrounding areas to culturally diverse and internationally acclaimed artists. This year's line-up includes: Oil Silk, Tom Braxton, Jeff Lorber, Urban Jazz Coalition and U-NAM.

This concert has become a national attraction, allowing Smooth Jazz at South Shore to give 100% of the profits back to the community. These funds benefits the Sand Castle Shelter for Children and FamiliesStepping Stone Shelter for Abused Women and the American Red Cross La Porte County Chapter.

Tall Ships Chicago at Navy Pier


From August 25th and through August 29th, there will be more than 20 historic tall ships from around the world at Chicago's Navy Pier. 

This family-friendly event includes the chance for visitors to view all of the ships, board up to 12 of the vessels and even take daily sails aboard five of the tall ships.

Ships will be docked in three locations at Navy Per: Nautical Mile (North Dock), Canada Cove (NW Wall at the front of the Pier) and America Alley (SW Wall at the front of the Pier).

The event also offers fun activities for kids at the Children's Village, international entertainment at three festival stages, and nightly fireworks shows. 

For the Love of Art Street Fair


This weekend in Whiting, Ind. the annual "For the Love of Art Street Fair will be held from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, August 28th in the downtown area sponsored by the 119th Street Artists. Bring the whole family to stroll through artists' stalls, artist/craftsmen exhibitions and hands-on, kid friendly activities of chalk art and tie-dying.  

Demonstrations include: water color, acrylic, oil painting, carving, photography, jewelry, wire wrapping, beading, pottery, sculpture, wood work, needle crafts and basket weaving from local Whiting, NW Indiana and southern Indiana artists.
